If you have been following our insta accounts here and here last week you know we were enjoying a week in Tulum. A little back story to why Tulum is so special to me. The hubs and I visited the Riviera Maya area almost 12 years ago and ended up getting married there shortly after. We honeymooned in Tulum and even returned for a Wiley Valentine creative retreat 9 years ago. Since then, the area has changed so much. Where the restaurants used to be just palapas on the sand now stand chic fabulous hotels and restaurants. They still have the rustic fabulous Mexico charm, but the style factor has definitely gone up a ton.
Not to be missed are the fabulous shops along the main drag in Tulum. My personal favorite was Caravana, filled with fabulous basics and handmade cotton gorgeous pieces. Lunch at Posada Margherita was definitely a stand out. You look out over the ocean, and your meal begins with the prettiest plate of housemade breads and a jar of the most delicious cauliflower. They make all their pastas in house and they use the freshest veggies. The cold pressed juices are not to be missed, and the best part, your kids will love all of this too! You can even do a little shopping just steps from your seat. Win win!
We had the most divine dinner at Hartwood, a restaurant that you will definitely hear about when you start looking into Tulum. And for good reason. The menu changes daily and is presented to you on a huge chalkboard. The ceviche we had was by far the most beautiful I have ever seen, topped with gorgeous seasonal fruits and flowers! So amazing! Breastfeeding with a view was a favorite memory of the trip for sure. Also don’t miss the gorgeous hand embroidered textiles and adorable kids dresses!
A favorite spot we discovered was Raw Love. They take such care to make their coconut yogurt each morning and pack their smoothie bowls with tons of superfood goodies! A great break from some of the heavier Mexican delights you may indulge in. Feel free to enjoy a matcha latte from the comfort of a hammock and don’t forget to walk several steps to the beach as it is absolutely breathtaking here.
These Tribord snorkel masks were serious game changers. With Piper never trying snorkeling before, and a few people in our group that can get a bit of anxiety from the typical snorkel breathing, these were amazing. Piper absolutely loved snorkeling as did everyone else. You can literally just breath normally while snorkeling and the mask never fogs up! Brilliant! Hartwood has a cookbook which is the perfect way to take a bit of Tulum home with you. This kaftan has a similar vibe to the Caravana one I snagged in town. This is the bikini Piper rocked much of the trip, and this dress is the same look as the ones I got for the girls.
